I tried a few other downloads before trying this, and none of them would get to what I had lost on my external hard drive. When I got this, it took a couple of tries to get what I wanted, but when I tried a Deep Scan, I got it all and then some! Most did not retain their file names, so I had to search the files individually to find what I wanted, and there were hundreds of them. To find exactly what I wanted, I sorted the file types to that I could focus on the type document I was looking for and then I would recover a whole page of files at a time. Next I'd go into Windows Explorer, select several of the files as a group, open them together, the close them one at a time until I'd looked at and closed all of that group. If one of the files I was looking for was in the group, I'd note the name and go back to Explorer and de-select that one file from the group. After going through this group, Windows Explorer still had all the recovered files I did not want still selected, and I'd delete them as a group.

I did the recovery onto 2GB SDs. Oddly, once I got about 128 recovered files onto the SD, I could not recover any more until I replaced it with a clean SD or erased some of the recovered files, even though the SD showed very little of its memory used. I don't know if this is an SD limit or a limit with the Pandora software. The Pandora software reported an error if I tried to recover more, and the error said I had already recovered a file with that name to the SD (though I had not). Weird!

I have a bad habit of tossing things in the recycle bin and emptying the bin way too often. One time, it really hurt me... So I had to look for a recovery program online. I found this one, downloaded and installed the beta version for free. BAM! There was the file I stupidly tossed too soon. The program worked so well at work, I kept it on the machine and used it often. When I left that job and took a new one, where I use multiple machines, I wanted to install the program again. Then I found this - the stick version... Wow. No need to install anything... Just plug in and retrieve. Can't get much easier than that.
