User Reviews about Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium Student Edition
This product is great, and was so easy to install! A few people mentioned difficulties with getting the serial number, but I had no problem at all. I received the serial number in my email the day after I submitted my student id and info. So if you follow the insturctions and have a valid id, there isn't much to worry about. Also when installing, it lets you select which programs you want to install. I only needed Photoshop for my current course, but will need the others later, so I was able to install only the one I needed. -- Great Product!
There are so many great new things in CS4. Moved up from CS2. Some learning curve involved, but nothing like I imagined. Well worth the price. -- CS4 is the best
This is a great Option for Students. Being a Student edition it costs much less than the standard Adobe. I needed this software for my classes. I had no problem sending Adobe my school information and received the serial number within 2 days. -- Adobe Creative Suite 4, Design Premium Student Edition
I am a developer more than I am a designer. I have been using Flash since version 4. My real desire was just to upgrade my non-academic version of Flash to the current CS4 release. As a student in CIT and MIS, I have had to design more graphics than I care to admit and bought the previous design suite from Adobe for this purpose. The differences between that version and this one are amazing. I highly recomend purchasing this as an upgrade (especially if you are a Flash user as the new 3D tools can save a lot of coding time). I selected this version over some of the other suites because I am interested in (and soon to be studying) print publishing. InDesign, like most of Adobe's software, sets the standard in its field.
In regards to verifying my student status, my student ID did not have a date on it (as required for registration). My school does electronic billing, so I didn't have that option for proof. I also did not have a receipt or official registration cerificate (because the school I attend does just about everything of this sort online). I ended up scanning my driver's license and getting an enrollment verification pdf file from the service my school provides for this (online also). After uploading these two documents to Adobe, I received my registration code two days later. It took a little of the shine off the product because I had to wait and because of the slight hassle in scanning and whatnot, but these products are well worth the trouble.
The installation took what I believe to be a solid hour (and my system is a good one). I read a book while I waited for it to prompt me for the insertion of the second cd and then went back to reading, so I'm not sure of the exact time it took. But be prepaired for a lengthy install. It also required a reboot (on Vista). The standard install does not include anything from the content cd or the tutorial cd. If you plan to use any of that, you will need to have the cd's handy. I plan to use the tutorials, I also plan to need several tutorial books if I am to have any hope of coming close to discovering all the features of these intense programs and having the least idea of what to do with them. Flash I feel comfortable with and am learning the new features quickly. Photoshop and Illustrator have always overwhelmed me with their capabilities and InDesign looks equally imposing. Adobe software is well worth the price, but there is a steep learning curve that comes with products. This is one of the advantages of the academic version for those who qualify: you can learn what you need to know before investing in the standard commercial suite. -- Still sets the standard
